VIRGIL ABLOH AND FUTURA’S OFF-WHITE DUNK GETS A DROP DATE
Better late than never.
After 3 years of false release information, the Off White x Futura Nike Dunk Low collection has a release date.
But the drop won’t happen how you’d think. And here’s why:
Yesterday a post between Sotheby’s (auction house) and Futura Laboratories confirmed that these limited sneakers are set to be auctioned on April 5th.
The bad news. Outside of this auction (for 8 pairs), there won’t be any public release for these dunks on Nike, Off-White, or retail stores.
The good news. 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to The Virgil Abloh Foundation to fund, and support diverse youth creatives.
How much will a pair cost? Only time will tell.
It’s expected that each of the sneakers will sell for upwards of $4,000. And even that is a “safe” number.
With all the love the sneaker world has for V, I’d imagine these sneakers could easily touch $8,000 to $10,000 a pop.
